Web Application Development

A web application is judged on the boring things: how fast it loads on a poor connection, whether it stays upright under load, and how quickly a new feature can be shipped without breaking the last one. We build for those properties first.

This is for teams launching a SaaS product, opening a customer portal, or replacing reporting that currently lives in exported files. We can start from a blank repository or take responsibility for an application someone else began.

How it works

A clear delivery process.

  1. 01

    Discover

A session on users, jobs to be done, and the systems the application must talk to.

  2. 02

    Scope

A written proposal covering release scope, architecture, timeline, and price.

  3. 03

    Design

Flows, states, and interface designs approved before build.

  4. 04

    Build

Weekly demos of working software in a live environment.

  5. 05

    Verify

Load, security, and accessibility checks before release.

  6. 06

    Run

Monitoring, documentation, and an agreed support cadence.

Questions

Frequently asked

A website presents information; a web application does work. If users log in, submit data, see results that differ per account, or rely on it to run part of their day, it is an application, with state, permissions, and integrations behind it. That distinction changes everything about the build: architecture, testing, security review, and the ongoing operations model. Marketing sites are comparatively simple; applications need a plan for the years after launch.

Performance is a design decision, not a late optimisation. We shape the data model and API around the screens users actually open, render as much as possible on the server, keep client bundles small, and index queries deliberately. Before release we measure against realistic data volumes and connection speeds rather than a developer laptop, and we set monitoring so regressions are caught after launch instead of reported by your customers.

Yes, and we start with an assessment rather than a rewrite. We review the code, dependencies, infrastructure, and test coverage, then report honestly on what is sound, what is risky, and what it would cost to stabilise. Often the right answer is incremental: harden the critical paths, add tests, then modernise piece by piece. If a rebuild genuinely is the cheaper option, we will show you the reasoning before recommending it.

After launch, we can agree a support arrangement covering fixes, dependency updates, monitoring and planned improvements. The scope, response arrangements and costs are agreed separately. You can also hand the application to your own team under the ownership and handover terms in your agreement.
